An exciting opportunity has arisen for Band 5 Community Nurse within South Glasgow Older Peoples Mental Health. The South service provision is across 2 Sites Shawmill resource Centre based in Pollokshaws and Elderpark Clinic based in Govan. Both bases have a multi-disciplinary team made up of Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Pharmacy and mental health nursing and clinical support staff. The role would involve comprehensive assessment and treatment of people over 65 with functional and organic mental health issues. The cases are often complex and involving co-morbidities with an expertise in Older Peoples Mental Health required along with good communication. As part of a multi-disciplinary team within the context of a CMHT, the post holder will have responsibility for the assessment of patient care needs and the development and evaluation of programmes of care. S/he will be expected to carry out all relevant forms of care in partnership with patients, carers and other professionals in line with agreed standards and clinical policies and without direct supervision. Participation in regular caseload supervision with a named Band 6 CPN, will be a critical aspect of the role Supervising the practice of, and demonstrating procedures to, student nurses and unqualified staff will be an important aspect of the role as will be the mentoring of nurses undergoing basic nurse training.
