Fraserside Community Services Society invites applications for the following position:
Job Title: COMMUNITY MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORT WORKER
Program: PETERSON PLACE – SURREY
Classification: GRID LEVEL 11 - Adult, Youth and/or Child Worker
Rate of Pay: $32.42 per hour and increments in accordance with the terms of the Collective Agreement

JOB SUMMARY:

Provide supportive partnerships with residents with mental health concerns by facilitating individualized goal-oriented treatment plans which are based on a Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Recovery Model; Support, motivate and encourage clients to live safely and as independently as possible and utilize community rehabilitation, education, social and recreational programs.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

· Minimum Diploma in a related human/social service field and one year recent related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
· Knowledge of and commitment to the principles of Psychosocial Rehabilitation and the Recovery Model
· Experience working with clients who are struggling with substance use, mental and spiritual wellness, poverty and homelessness and strong skills in working with a multi-barrier population while maintaining appropriate boundaries
· Strong understanding of oppression and marginalization, specifically related to people living with mental health and substance use issues; Sound knowledge of established and emerging practices for urban populations with complex needs related to mental health, substance use and homelessness
· Knowledge of concurrent disorders and community resources an asset
· Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with family members, support networks, team members, the community and other mental health service providers
· Demonstrated skills in planning, decision making, coaching and human relations such as a genuine concern and respect for mental health clients
· Candidate must have excellent communication skills, self-awareness and good boundaries
· Demonstrated ability and commitment to working effectively with diverse populations
· Valid First Aid/CPR and Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certification
· Working knowledge of MS Office; familiarity with an electronic case management system is preferred
· Successful Criminal Record Check
