Community Outreach Healthcare Technician (HCT) – Fixed Term (6 Months) Location: Community-based role across Auckland Hours: Full-time (1 FTE) Join Tāmaki Health – Supporting Community Health Tāmaki Health is looking for a Community Outreach Healthcare Technician (HCT) to support vaccination and population health initiatives across Auckland. In this role, you will work alongside the Community Outreach Registered Nurse to deliver vaccinations and health support directly in the community. This includes visiting patients in their homes, engaging with whānau about vaccinations, and supporting preventive health screenings. This is a fixed-term role for 6 months, supporting important community outreach and vaccination programmes. About the Role As a Community Outreach HCT, you will support the Community Outreach RN by assisting with vaccinations, patient observations, and community engagement activities. You will work directly with patients and families in the community, supporting health education and helping identify opportunities for preventive screening. Working Hours This role requires flexibility, including a mix of weekday, evening, and weekend shifts. Exact hours will be confirmed, but availability for some evenings and weekends is essential. Key Responsibilities * Support the Community Outreach RN during home visits and community outreach activities * Assist with vaccinations and health screenings where trained and authorised * Record patient observations and ensure documentation is accurate and up to date * Identify opportunities for preventive screenings and support patient follow-up * Maintain patient confidentiality and escalate any clinical concerns to the RN * Provide basic health education and support patients to access health resources * Assist with maintaining clinical supplies and infection control processes What We’re Looking For Qualifications & Experience * Vaccinating Health Worker Stage 1 and Stage 2 certification (Desirable) * Clinical experience preferred (roles such as a HCA, phlebotomists, overseas trained clinicians and vaccinating health workers) * Experience working in healthcare or community health settings is advantageous Skills & Knowledge * Strong interpersonal and communication skills * Understanding of cultural safety and health equity * Knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles in healthcare * Basic computer skills and accurate documentation practices * Proficient in conversational level of Te Reo Māori or Pasifika languages is desirable Personal Attributes * Positive and caring attitude * Comfortable engaging with communities and families * Motivated, reliable, and proactive * Strong teamwork and collaboration skills * Must hold a full driver’s license and have access to a car (mileage reimbursed) Why Join Tāmaki Health? * Make a meaningful impact by supporting healthcare delivery in the community * Work alongside a supportive outreach nursing team * Contribute to initiatives that improve vaccination coverage and health equity * Be part of a healthcare organisation committed to accessible care for all New Zealanders * Access staff wellbeing support including EAP services How to Apply If you are passionate about supporting community health and enjoy working directly with patients and families, we would love to hear from you.
