Afghan Association Paiwand is a registered charity founded in 2002, providing support to refugees, asylum seekers, and vulnerable communities in Northwest London. We empower young people through education, advocacy, mentoring, and community engagement. Our services currently support over 1,800 beneficiaries annually.

JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a passionate and reliable female Project Manager to lead this important community initiative. You will coordinate weekly drop-in sessions, manage outreach and engagement, and ensure delivery of a trauma-informed, strengths-based and co-produced programme.
This post is open to women only, under Schedule 9, Part 1 of the Equality Act 2010, due to the need to deliver gender-sensitive and women-only services for refugee women.

SAFEGUARDING REQUIREMENTS

Applicant must complete safeguarding training and pass an Enhanced DBS check. Paiwand follows strict policies that are aligned with UK safeguarding legislation.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES1. WEEKLY SESSION DELIVERY

  • Plan and deliver a structured weekly drop-in at Golders Lane Community Centre
  • Create a welcoming, culturally sensitive, and safe space
  • Deliver a four-week themed cycle of sessions
  • Coordinate with Paiwand staff to ensure participants can access on-site support
  • Support peer leadership and recruit/train a small team of volunteers

Note: This time allocation has been carefully determined to ensure all responsibilities can be completed within contracted hours. The Project Manager is expected to manage their workload efficiently, promoting accountability and balance while delivering a high-quality service.Person SpecificationEssential

  • Experience working with refugees, asylum seekers, or migrant communities
  • Understanding of barriers faced by refugee women and families
  • Awareness of gender-sensitive, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive practice
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to deliver structured community sessions and support co-production
  • Ability to coordinate and support volunteers
  • Digital literacy (email, WhatsApp, Microsoft Office)
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to work independently
