QUALIFICATIONS

  • Working towards or completed tertiary Qualifications at Certificate IV level in
    Community Services, youth work, social work or social sciences and 1-2 years’

experience in a similar service

  • Current full drivers’ licence
  • Clear Working with Children Check
  • Current First Aid certificate

SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • Demonstrated skills in Community Development
  • Exceptional written and verbal skills
  • Computer literate in all MS Office suites

Experience Requirements

  • Experience in Neighbourhood Centre direct service delivery
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Experience in leading projects
  • Experience in event management

KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

  • Empathetic understanding of the client target groups, including indigenous and cultural

groups

  • Knowledge of relevant resources in the community
  • Commitment to Principles of Social Justice, Accountability and Transparency

EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • A reliable vehicle

  • Ability to drive a 12-seater bus

Responsibilities

POSITION PURPOSE

To assist in the operation of CareWays community hubs and implement programs, activities,
information and referral to individuals and families ensuring they are in accordance with the
philosophy, objectives, mission and values of CareWays.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Facilitate and coordinate Community Support activities and events in line with contract

outcomes

  • Provide accurate information, referral and advocacy
  • Keep information sources up to date and current.
  • Ensure confidentiality is maintained at all times
  • Maintenance of all records and statistics, ensuring these records are accurate and current.
  • Assist in promotion and advertising of the service through all forms of the media.
  • Attend relevant meetings as directed.
  • Provide input into the development and review of policies and procedures.
  • Understand and follow safe practices in relation to W.H & S Guidelines
  • Understand and provide adequate duty of care
  • Minute taking at internal and external meetings
  • Carry out other duties in line with the philosophy and objectives of the organisation and as

directed by Supervisors and Managers

  • Assist in regular service evaluations, by consumer and volunteer surveys or informal focus

groups.

  • Research Grant opportunities and assist with grant writing and reporting
  • Ensure Volunteers are supported at community events and within leisure groups
