Job Description: Community Program Specialist

Responsibilities
  • Implementation of meeting the daily needs of the attendants/ participants, per their ISPs, and as issues arise.
    Includes, but is not limited to the following: hygiene, daily living skills, habilitation support, lunches, social skills development, etc.
  • Implementation of programming, community, and in-house activities for all participants
    -Coordinate, drive, and encourage participation in programs in the local community.
  • Supporting the Brittany Residential mission and the mission of day program services.
  • The mission of Brittany Residential is to provide community and residential supports while fostering self-determination through informed choices and options for individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities
  • To foster an environment that empowers participants, primarily with developmental disabilities, to live, learn, work and play in the community.
    -In all daily activities, remember: Person-Centered programming, offering choices, respect, civility, health and safety
  • Assist the daily cleaning tasks, as needed.
    This includes but is not limited to: vacuuming, mopping, disinfecting, cleaning restrooms and commodes, wiping down counters and mopping. This may also include shoveling the sidewalk and putting salt down in snowy/ icy weather.
  • Give applicable information for the ISP planning process, and complete daily documentation as needed for billing and programming implementation.
    This includes, but is not limited to: daily data sheets, daily service sheets, monthly summaries of those sheets, input into annual assessments, unusual incident reports, etc.
    –Attend and actively participate in weekly team meetings and monthly trainings, as part of the Day Support Team
    Monthly trainings may include how to best support participants, shopping lists, monthly calendars, programming ideas, outreach ideas, DODD trainings, etc.
    -Participate in trainings and activities to follow the mission of BRI, and support the participants in a person-centered, Individual-directed approach.
    Inclusivity and person-centered services drive this Center. Ongoing training and self-assessment is needed to assure that we remain true to this concept.
    -Be an active part of a culture of service and positive support.
    We are here to provide a service and foster a positive environment. We are not here to push and overstrain participants. Teachable moments will be built in, and we are encouraged to not preach or overteach participants. Participants drive our service delivery model. Period.
  • Be an active participate in coverage and implementation of programs, outcomes, action steps and activities- both in-house and in the community.
    We are called to plan, structure and implement programming and inclusive opportunities. That is a large part of what we do. We also provide habilitation support and hygiene assistance. This is not a passive assignment in any way.
    -Follow all Brittany Residential Inc. policies and procedures
    Brittany Residential is the overseeing company of this Center. We follow their policies on hiring, call-offs, etc. Brite Day also has a Policy Manual which mirrors many of Brittany’s policies and procedures.
  • Follow and obey and Federal law, State of Ohio law, DODD rule or administrative rules as applicable. Funding for services comes from the State of Ohio and the area counties. There are governing state rules (501.23) which govern how we deliver services. A copy of this rule is placed at Brite Day.
  • Other duties as assigned or required.
    Job Type: Full-time
    Pay: $16.00 per hour
    Expected hours: 40 per week
