What You'll Be Doing Wake County Public Health is seeking a Community Public Health Educator to join #TeamWake! This role is a unique opportunity to shape public health messaging, build trust in historically marginalized communities, and promote health literacy across Wake County. **This is a time limited position** As a Public Health Educator, you’ll be at the forefront of our broader health literacy efforts. You’ll collaborate with the Wake County Communications Office, community partners, and internal teams to craft culturally relevant, accessible, and timely public health communications. What you'll be doing: Partner with business leaders, faith-based organizations, and advocacy groups to tailor messages that resonate with diverse audiences—ensuring the right message reaches the right people in the right way Develop compelling materials like talking points, presentations, social media posts, flyers, and web content that will drive community engagement Support and work with the HealthLit4Wake team Lead initiatives that empower residents to make informed health decisions Design strategies to involve youth in health literacy efforts and connect them with training opportunities that build future public health leaders Coordinate and support events that increase access to medical knowledge and promote public understanding of vaccines and other mitigation measures **This is a time limited position** About Our Team At the heart of the Wake County Public Health department is a dedicated team of professionals committed to protecting and improving the health of our community. The Basics (Required Education and Experience) Bachelor's degree Two years of job-related experience Equivalent education and experience are accepted Please include ALL prior work experience on your application and resume. Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience) Bachelor's degree or Masters degree in Public Health or related feild At least three years of experience working in a health education, communications or marketing-related position Experience in proactively developing community outreach plans and executing them successfully A strong understanding of common social media platforms and how to use them to reach the right people with the right message at the right time Experience working collaboratively with creatives on design, video or web projects Knowledge of marketing principles and how to apply them to generate the highest possible return on investment.
