JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to Team Lead, Contact Centre, the Community Resource Specialist – Gender Based Violence, Shelter Intake will provide assistance to individuals contacting the consolidated domestic violence shelter admission pilot. Through this service they will provide crisis intervention, screening and assessment for shelter admission and navigation support and safety planning to individuals fleeing abusive situations . The position provides information, assistance and liaison to people needing support around issues of Gender Based Violence; gathers statistics for reporting; and assists in various ways with the activities of the domestic violence shelter admission pilot project.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

• Completion of Grade 12 (related post-secondary Diploma or relevant course work in a Social Science preferred)
• Frontline experience working with a domestic violence shelter or other similar support program required.
• Acceptable attainment and maintenance of a Police Information Check with a Vulnerable Sector Check and an Intervention Record Check.

• Receives calls from individuals contacting reaching out to the consolidated shelter admission pilot project
• Provides the primary response for service users accessing supports who are survivors of Gender Based Violence by providing information and support in accessing services to meet their needs.
• Completes preliminary intake screening for placemen in partnered domestic violence shelters
• Provides assistance and liaison between service providers and callers, where appropriate, by actively linking/connecting the 2 parties together
• Liaises with Alberta Works to support emergency hotel accommodation when required
• Participates in program and project meetings as required.
