Help create a safe and vibrant Edmonton! As a Community Safety Liaison (CSL), you’ll play a vital role within Community Safety Initiatives as a part of the Neighbourhood Empowerment Team (NET). You will work closely with residents, community groups, transit riders, local businesses, and other partners to develop strategies that address safety concerns and positively impact perceptions of safety in a wide variety of areas including transit and other public spaces. Community Safety Liaisons work is informed by available data, community’s needs, and emerging priorities. Currently there are CSLs who work alongside a number of different Edmonton Police Service (EPS) units, in transit with Transit Peace Officers, City Recreation Centres and with neighbourhoods and other groups experiencing safety concerns throughout the city. If you are passionate about making a meaningful difference in your community and have experience in community development, engagement, or safety, we encourage you to apply!
As a Community Safety Liaison, you will utilize creative problem-solving skills and explore the connections between the built environment, social context, and economic factors that influence safety. You will serve as a bridge between residents, community groups, stakeholders, service providers, City departments, and enforcement partners such as Edmonton Transit Service (ETS), Edmonton Police Service, and Community Peace Officers. Your focus will be on understanding and addressing safety issues, promoting crime and violence prevention, and fostering a sense of security and well-being.
This is a challenging but rewarding position that requires strong interpersonal skills, a collaborative approach, and a deep understanding of community dynamics.
