Description **Must be able to work various schedules: Sunday through Saturday 7:00am - 4:00pm, 10:30am - 7:30pm & every other weekend** POSITION SUMMARY: The Community Service Coordinator is responsible for coordinating Blue Badge Volunteers (BBV) and special groups to meet the needs of the Houston Food Bank (HFB) and ensuring these volunteers are trained for their volunteer work. This position recruits and schedules volunteers, captures volunteer data, and records volunteer service hours. The Community Service Coordinator tracks metrics used to evaluate the effectiveness of the HFB’s volunteer system and reports metrics to leadership. Adhere to PACT values. This position requires punctuality and dependable attendance to meet the needs of the business, including attending and taking part in meetings and presentations. Maintains and grows BBV and other special group programs. Coordinates and conducts BBV orientations. Collaborates with and submits reports to court systems and workforce programs to expand and improve programming. Tracks metrics and assists with internal reporting. Ensures volunteer information is entered in the volunteer database, including volunteer hours. Creates an environment where volunteers feel welcomed and appreciated for their work at HFB and want to give their time and talent to fulfill the mission of the organization. Orders supplies and keeps track of inventory. Communicates with HFB departments to understand and fill volunteer requests and ensures volunteers have an exceptional experience when they volunteer. Appreciates volunteers for giving their time and talent to impact hunger in the community. Tracks metrics and ensures databases are up to date. Supports operations at the Welcome Desk at HFB East Branch. Ensures staff or volunteers assist individuals to have access to accurate, valid, and complete information. Identifies customers’ needs, clarifies information, researches every issue, and provides solutions and/or alternatives. Manages inbound calls in a timely manner with friendliness and professionalism, engages in active listening of callers to route calls effectively, and takes messages accurately and completely. Performs miscellaneous projects as assigned. Ensures that the work area is clean, secure, and well-maintained. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Requirements QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Experience: High School Diploma from an accredited school or general education development (GED) certificate. Bachelor’s degree in social work, Communications, or a related field is preferred Minimum of 2 years’ experience with in-person customer service Minimum of 1 year experience with scheduling and event coordination preferred Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations: None Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.
