MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Community Services, Counselling, Social/Health Sciences, or a closely related field.
  • Experience: 3+ years frontline work in community, social, or health services (e.g., shelters, settlement, youth, mental health/addictions, child & family, justice, disability, seniors).
  • Teaching/Training: Post-secondary teaching or substantial facilitation/clinical education experience.
  • Applied expertise: Harm reduction, crisis de-escalation, group facilitation, solution-focused/strengths-based approaches, case management and documentation.
  • Technical: Proficiency with Office 365 and learning management systems.
Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

We’re seeking an experienced educator–practitioner to teach across the Community Service Worker (CSW) diploma. You’ll deliver engaging, practice-ready instruction, supervise applied learning and placements, and model trauma-informed, anti-oppressive practice while meeting institutional and Ministry standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Teach and facilitate interactive classes (lectures, role-plays, case studies, simulations) using approved outlines and grading schemes.
  • Assess learning with clear rubrics; provide timely, actionable feedback; maintain accurate attendance and gradebooks.
  • Integrate best practices in harm reduction, crisis response, counselling micro-skills, documentation, cultural humility, and ethics.
  • Use the LMS and Office 365 to post content, manage submissions, and record grades.
  • Offer coaching on professionalism, job readiness, and community resources; escalate risk/safety concerns per policy.
  • Participate in program meetings, reviews, and continuous improvement.
