Job Description:

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

The incumbent may perform all, some, or similar range of duties:

  • Work with our Community Connections program to develop youth and senior programming for the communities of Robert’s Arm and Pilley’s Island
  • Work as part of the Thrift Store team; serving as clerk, implementing store layouts and standards, sorting and receiving inventory, etc.
  • Research, assist with, and/or implement programming possibilities in association with community events
  • Performing other duties as assigned by direct supervisor and related to Thrift Store and community needs
  • Ensure the general upkeep of external property such as mowing lawns, picking up litter, sweeping sidewalks, gardening/watering and planting shrubs, pruning and weeding and raking
  • Ensure proper storage and basic maintenance of equipment
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Be responsible for managing own time

Health and Safety

  • Contribute to the overall safety of staff, volunteers, donors, clients, and guests
  • Use personal prescribed safety equipment and clothing as directed by the employer
  • Report any workplace hazards, dangers, safety issues, injuries, or illness’ immediately and ensure care is taken with all equipment and property
  • Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures
  • Performs other work-related duties as assigned

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities
  • Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures

Education, Qualifications and Certifications:

  • Must be willing to obtain a Criminal Police Check

Experience and Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of Health & Safety Standards.

Skills and Capabilities:

Compensation:
The target hiring range for this position is $16.00 to $17.83 with a maximum of $21.40.
Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
