Salary: £25,000 per annum, pro rata which equates to £20,270
Location: Shrewsbury
Contract/Hours: Permanent, part time (working 30 hours a week)

Are you resilient and have a positive approach to change and challenge? We are looking for someone with a ‘can do’ attitude to join our team. As a Community Short Breaks Practitioner ideally you will have:

  • A Diploma Level 3 in working with children or similar is desirable
  • Experience of working with children (essential) with disabilities (desirable)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Attention to detail with strong organisational skills and the ability to work to deadlines
  • The ability to think of new and fun ways to engage those in our care
  • The ability to drive. The job requires the ability to travel according to the needs of the job, with reasonable adjustments, if required, according to the Equality Act.

As a Community Short Breaks Practitioner your role is to co-ordinate and direct the support of children, young people and families, by agreeing interventions, which enable positive and agreed outcomes to be achieved. You will help do this by:

  • Leading a team to support children and young people with disabilities to reach their potential
  • Planning and organising a range of groups and activities to help children and young people grow
  • Supporting those in our care to access a range of stimulating experiences
  • Holding conversations with families and /or carers to update Risk Assessments
  • Dealing with new referrals
  • Supervision of staff
