We provide services and support to adults, and families with accompanying children in the form of accommodation, case management, assertive outreach, financial assistance, community connection and referral services. About the role As a Community Support Team Leader, this is your opportunity to be part of a collaborative, community support team at Flagstaff Accommodation and The Open Door that provides accommodation & community support to men, or people who identify as male, who are experiencing homelessness and other complex needs. Reporting to the Flagstaff Manager, this fixed-term full-time position is contracted until October 2026, located across our Flagstaff Accommodation in West Melbourne and The Open-Door in North Melbourne sites, VIC. How you will make an impact Lead and support a team of Community Support Workers to deliver high-quality, trauma-informed, client-centred services across residential programs, ensuring alignment with The Salvation Army’s Model of Care and service standards. Oversee daily operations including resident intake, safety, orientation, and facilities management, while ensuring culturally inclusive and rights-based service delivery that meets the diverse needs of residents. Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including other Salvation Army programs and community services, to support resident pathways and enhance service integration. Drive continuous improvement by identifying service gaps, contributing to quality assurance processes, and ensuring program documentation, data analysis and accreditation standards are consistently met. Foster a collaborative and supportive workplace culture through effective communication, team development, supervision, risk management, and active participation in sector networks and leadership forums. What you will bring A Tertiary qualification in Community Development, Social Work or a related discipline. A current VIC Drivers Licence and Employee Working with Children’s Check Demonstrated experience in the use of de-escalation/crisis communication skills to reduce high conflict situations. Ability to communicate effectively with individuals experiencing homelessness and complex needs Ability to support staff exposed to distressing traumatic situations Relevant experience in the social service sector. Relevant experience in the supervision of staff.
