Description

Big Hearts Home Healthcare is looking for a compassionate and dedicated HCA/Community Support Worker/Caregiver to provide support for children with developmental disabilities. In this role, you will play a vital part in enhancing the well-being and daily lives of children by assisting with personal care, developmental activities, and emotional support.
The ideal candidate is patient, understanding, and passionate about working with children who have special needs. You will work closely with families and healthcare professionals to ensure a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment that promotes each child’s independence and quality of life.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Health Care Aide certification or relevant experience
  • Certification in CPR & First Aid (or willingness to obtain before starting).
  • Minimum 6 months to 1 year of experience working with children with developmental disabilities (preferred )
  • Training or coursework in child development, special education, behavioral therapy, or healthcare is a plus.
  • Basic knowledge of autism, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, ADHD, and other developmental conditions (preferred).
  • Ability to lift and assist children as needed.
  • Willingness to undergo a background check.
  • Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities
  • Assist clients with ambulation, feeding, bathing and grooming
  • Consult with care manager on activities, needs and problems related to client care
  • Utilize observation skills to note changes in client’s condition
  • Encourage participation in activity programs by assisting clients
  • Provide emotional and social support to clients/families including palliative care
  • Adhere to policies and procedures regarding quality assurance, fire, safety, and environment
