We are looking for a qualified, fit, fun, gentle and understanding support worker to join our complex care team and provide support to a yound adult male living with AuDHD (Autism and ADHD), PDA (Pathalogical demand avoidance), ODD (Obsessive compulsive disorder) and selective/non-speaking communication. We are seeking to find qualified and experienced disability support workers who are patient, gentle, playful and willing to help build on existing capacity.
About the role:
Approximately 20-24 hours per week
Minimum shift 6 hours, with inactive overnight shift, monday through to sunday.
We run a 7 day roster which may also include relief shifts to cover staff absence.
The right person will ideally be:
• Fit, fun, warm, patient and gentle
• A good understanding of kidney health, healthy eating and following nutrition restrictions and guidelines
• Experienced working with AuDHD, PDA, ODD and selective/non-speaking autism (minimum 2 years experience)
• Comfortable supporting a person through dysregulation and implementing behaviour support strategies
• Understanding of alternative/non-speaking communication and communication differences (echolalia and delayed processing)
• Familiar with PDA-informed, low-demand approaches
• Confident following strategies recommended by the wider care team
• Reliable, respectful and able to build a genuine connection through play and shared interests
• Calm and flexible when things don't go according to plan
Requirements:
• Current Working with Children Check (WWCC)
• NDIS Worker Screening Check
• Minimum Cert 3 in disability support or similar
• Drivers licence, Reliable vehicle & insurance
• Minimum 2 years experience in disability support, complex care or SIL support
• Previous experience supporting children and adults with complex support needs is highly desirable
What the support may involve:
• Assisting with appointments and community access
• Supporting ADLs and everyday routines (meal preperation, morning routine, and evening routine)
• Helping during periods of dysregulation (implementing behaviour support strategies and de-escalation strategies)
• Supporting communication
• Progress note writing, bowel charting, medication charting, incident reports and progress notes
• Helping build confidence and independence
• ENGAGE, facilitate activities and generally having some fun together!
