EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

Position Title: Community Support Worker
Program /Team: STARR
Hours of Work: Temporary, Part Time (Until Return of Incumbent – Sick Leave Coverage) - 30 hours p/w Monday to Friday
Salary: $25.95 per hour – Grid 10, Step 1
Location: Darwin Avenue, Victoria

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Join our team in the STARR program, supporting higher-needs individuals by promoting independence, community inclusion, and meaningful engagement tailored to their strengths. Responsibilities include conducting assessments, contributing to individualized plans, facilitating skill-building activities, and providing emotional support. You’ll also assist with personal care, administer medications, ensure safety, and collaborate with team members and professionals. Strong communication, non-aversive behavior management, and effective time management are key to success in this rewarding role.

Required qualifications includes the following:

  • A diploma in the Human Services Field or a related field or the equivalent education and experience is required for this position.
  • Experience and knowledge in behaviour management and/or Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training is a prerequisite.
  • At least one-year previous work experience is required.
  • Experience in the delivery of personal care
  • Minimum 6 months supporting individuals with high support needs and challenging behaviors
  • The successful candidate needs to be able to support clients in an aquatic environment, and must have a BC Class 5 driving license and able to drive a small SUV/van size vehicle. Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate candidates with international driving licenses.
