Taber Special Needs Society has been in existence since 1987. The Society provides support to adults with developmental disabilities. The Society advocates and supports an inclusive environment both for the individuals and the staff that support them. There will be on the job training and job shadowing.
Rotation details: Permanent Part time 20-24 hours per week.
Overview: Seeking a Community Support Worker to support 2 gentlemen, who live separately in their own homes. We are looking for a person who is relationship focused and who enjoy on being physically active. The individuals you will be supporting enjoy their independence, and requires opportunities to build trusting relationships, support daily living tasks,
Responsibilities: As a direct support Workers, you’ll play a vital role in delivering person centered support. You will report to a team Leader. You will plan and lead activities tailored to each person’s interests. Completing documentation, participating in support planning and establishing goals, organizing and attending appointments, and finding creative ways to engage them to participate in activities within their community. You must be comfortable initiating conversations with local groups and businesses to build opportunities for involvement.
Qualifications: You must be able to participate and enjoy physical activities such as walking distances, golfing, bike riding, fishing. Knowledge in emotional regulation an asset. A flexible and adaptable approach in required– comfortable working varied hours including morning, afternoon and evenings based on clients needs and availability. As well as: · be 18 years of age or older. ·possess a valid class 5 driver’s license and a reliable vehicle with proof of $2 million liability insurance. · possess a clean criminal record check with the vulnerable persons sector check. · High School Diploma or equivalent. · Proficient in verbal and written English. · Basic understanding and use of computer skills.
Experience in the disability sector or health sector is an asset, but not necessary as we provide all training.
Job Types: Part-time, Permanent
Pay: $20.00-$22.26 per hour
