COMMUNITY AND TENANT RELATIONS - 3 MONTH ASSIGNMENT

In-office role Monday - Friday; overtime may be required on a need basis. Must be able to travel. (Reimburse or rental)
Role is responsible for property management and tenant relations, supporting citizens and tenants with completing necessary forms, documents, and employment services, providing resources for early childhood development, support for mental health and addictions, and personal growth. The CTR also fosters positive relationships between our organization and the community. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, adept at conflict resolution, and passionate about creating a sense of community and belonging.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor of Social Work or Human Services with Current membership is an asset or equivalent work experience.
  • Post-secondary education or a diploma in Business or Finance is required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of related experience, equivalent education, and relevant work experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of the Alberta Residential and Tenancy Act.
  • Knowledge of public social housing programs and other programs and services offered.
  • Cross-cultural sensitivity and awareness.
  • Proficiency with computer programs such as MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), MS Outlook, and the Internet.
  • Proficiency with office equipment such as computers, voice mail, fax, scanners, and photocopiers.

Responsibilities

Community Relations

  • Provide referrals regarding available support from social service agencies and community programs.
  • Develop supportive relationships with clients to help them identify their strengths and barriers to stability.
  • Assess barriers clients and their families face to determine their best possible support strategy and develop a workable plan to maintain housing.
  • Assist clients in developing a personal budget through budget counselling sessions.
  • Assist clients in establishing payment plans for bills and past debts.
  • Assist clients in developing an individualized goal and action plan that promotes transition to non-subsidized housing and self-sufficiency.
  • Maintain accurate electronic records such as case planning, monthly progress reports, outcome reports etc. for each client.
  • Provide clients with information on programs and services offered by us and assist with completing application forms and other relevant documents.
  • Liaises with community associations, agencies, and stakeholders.
  • Represents the organization at community activities and events to enhance the organization’s community profile.
  • Participates on in-house or off-site committees, task forces, and special projects as required.
