The Opportunity: Community Treasures Thrift Store Volunteer Coordinator
The successful candidate will be an experienced Thrift Store Volunteer Coordinator who is committed to recruitment, scheduling, training, supervising/accountability, retention, and maintaining accurate volunteer records. and recognition of volunteers in the Thrift Store. The Coordinator will work alongside the Thrift Store Manager to ensure operations of the Thrift Store are implemented effectively and efficiently.

Responsibilities:

§ Coordinate and participate in the hiring, supervision, orientation, training and evaluation of volunteers.
§ Create a positive experience for volunteers.
§ Develop schedules for volunteers to ensure appropriate levels of volunteer coverage to reach the store’s financial goals and be able to provide excellent customer service.
§ Train staff to work effectively and cooperatively with volunteers.
§ Orient volunteers to increase their understanding of the organization, its community members, its services and the role and responsibilities of volunteers.
§ Ensure that volunteer check-in procedures are followed, and records of volunteer hours are maintained according to established procedures.
§ Conduct regularly scheduled communication with volunteers to provide direction, guidance and oversight.
§ Collaborate with the Thrift Store Manager to develop and implement strategic methods for recruitment, recognition, and retention of volunteers and planning for future growth.
§ Assist with managing donations.
§ Work collaboratively with the Thrift Store Manager to implement the operations of the Thrift Store.
§ Support a flexible, versatile and/or changing work environment while maintaining quality, effectiveness, and efficiency.
§ Work cooperatively and effectively with others to set goals, resolve problems, generate solutions and make decisions that enhance organizational effectiveness and improve performance while fostering teamwork.
§ Ensure ethical behaviour and business practices are consistent with industry standards and align with the values of the organization.
Education, Skill Set, Knowledge, and Abilities:
· Two or more years of retail or resale experience with non-profit experience an asset.
· Resource management in developing leadership and conflict resolution.
· Exhibits excellent customer service skills.
· Detail oriented with a high level of accuracy.
· Possess and understanding of professional boundaries.
· Proven ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment.
· Ability to respond quickly to change.
· Demonstrated ability to work effectively under stressful conditions.
· The ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and walk up and down stairs.
· Ability to work a flexible schedule that will include evenings, weekends and holidays.
· Ability to work with people from a diverse array of backgrounds and experiences.
· Experience with data processing and volunteer software.
· Self-motivated with a positive and professional approach to management.
· Establish and maintain positive working relationships with others, both internally and externally, to achieve the goals of the organization.
· Foster teamwork: Work cooperatively and effectively with others to set goals, resolve problem, and make decisions that enhance organizational effectiveness.
· Demonstrated capability to conduct oneself in a calm and professional demeanor when dealing with the public and/or difficult situations.
§ Is self-motivated and able to work independently.
§ Proactive, punctual, and reliable.
§ Must have or be able to obtain a Criminal Record check (Vulnerable Sector).
§ Must have or be able to obtain a CS Child and Youth Intervention check.
§ Driving to rural locations, in all weather and road conditions. Current driver’s license with adequately insured reliable transportation required.
§ Required to stand or sit for extended periods of time during performance of duties.
§ May involve work with children, youth and adults considered to be very high risk including those with criminal tendencies, potential violence and aggression, mental health issues (such as depression and suicidal tendencies), physical/sexual/emotional abuse and/or neglect, and substance abuse.
Salary: $52,000/year, paid bi-weekly
Hours of work: 40 per week
