Community Youth Worker – First Nations Bundaberg | SCHADS 4.1 | Full Time We’re looking for a culturally grounded First Nations worker to support Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander young people aged 16–25 who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness, disconnection or complex life challenges. You’ll be a trusted mentor, advocate and cultural guide — helping young people strengthen identity, build belonging and navigate housing, wellbeing, education, justice and healing pathways. Key Responsibilities Provide strengths‑based, culturally safe, trauma‑informed support. Build strong, respectful relationships with young people, families, Elders and community. Engage through yarning, on‑Country activities, outreach and kin/family connection. Support young people to set goals, build confidence and strengthen cultural identity. Help navigate housing, Centrelink, education, training, AOD, legal and wellbeing services. Advocate for culturally safe, equitable service experiences. Work closely with Elders, ACCOs, Land Councils and youth justice to deliver wrap‑around support. Promote cultural safety across the team and embed healing‑centred practices. What You Bring Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander identity (Identified role). Strong cultural knowledge, community connection or lived experience. Experience supporting vulnerable or at‑risk young people. Understanding of trauma‑informed and culturally safe practice. Knowledge of youth homelessness and barriers impacting Indigenous young people. Strong communication and yarning skills. Driver’s licence, WWCC/Working With Vulnerable People. Cert IV or higher in Community Services/Youth Work (or willingness to obtain).
