We are looking for a qualified accountant to join our Finance team as a Company Accountant. This role offers a great opportunity for accounting professionals from an audit background looking to transition into an in-house position or those interested to explore a different sector.
This role covers three entities that form part of, or are connected to, the SRA group – SRA Limited, the Compensation Fund and the Solicitors Indemnity Fund (SIF). Each entity has its own unique operational and accounting characteristics offering variety in the role.

Responsibilities

As the Company Accountant, you will be a key member of the Finance team, with direct responsibility for supporting the SRA’s Executive team and Board on major Compensation Fund and SIF governance decisions. You will also be vital in supporting the financial management of one of the most complex and highest risk parts of the SRA’s expenditure, its project portfolio.
You will play a crucial role in supporting the resilience of the Finance department by handling urgent and important tasks requiring Finance support or guidance. You will be accountable for corporate Finance reporting.
With your established business partnering skill, you will effectively liaise with and support the Client Protection department, which manages the Compensation Fund. This includes timely delivery of monthly management accounts, cash forecasts, and quarterly reports, ensuring smooth external audits and effective annual modelling for the Fund’s contribution requirements. You will manage the year-end accounts preparation and audit process for the Compensation Fund, ensuring high-quality deliverables and a robust audit trail.
Additionally, you will proactively plan to enable senior management review of various reports that you will be responsible for drafting. You will also be responsible for monthly reporting for the Solicitors Indemnity Fund and providing timely support to project managers on major SRA projects, ensuring accurate spend forecasts throughout the project lifecycle.
