Role Description The Complex Care Assistant role is an on-site position based in Peacehaven, providing person-centered support to individuals with complex health and care needs. Day-to-day responsibilities include assisting with personal care, supporting mobility and manual handling, and helping with daily living activities such as dressing, eating, and maintaining hygiene. The role involves monitoring wellbeing, recognizing changes in physical or emotional health, and reporting concerns promptly to senior staff or clinical professionals. The Complex Care Assistant will build trusting relationships with service users, including those living with dementia, promote independence wherever possible, and maintain clear and accurate care records. The role also requires working collaboratively with colleagues, following care plans and safety procedures, and upholding the organization’s values in every interaction.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess strong Interpersonal Skills and Communication abilities to build rapport, listen effectively, and interact sensitively with service users, families, and colleagues.
  • Candidates should possess Caregiving and Dementia Care skills to provide compassionate, person-centered support to individuals with complex needs, including those living with cognitive impairments.
  • Candidates should possess Manual Handling skills and an understanding of safe mobility support to assist service users in a way that protects both their safety and the assistant’s wellbeing.
  • Relevant care qualifications or training (e.g., NVQ/QCF in Health and Social Care, care certificates, or equivalent) would be beneficial.
  • Experience in complex care, homecare, or a similar support environment, along with knowledge of safeguarding and basic health and safety practices, would be advantageous.
  • Ability to follow detailed care plans, maintain accurate documentation, work flexibly across shifts, and demonstrate reliability and professionalism in all duties.
