QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/JOB REQUIREMENTS (ABOUT YOU):

  • 2+ years of auditing experience and/or an accounting role
  • 4+ years of experience in an internal audit, risk management, process mapping or related areas would be an asset.
  • Previous Distribution/Supply Chain experience an asset.
  • Solid understanding of risk management and/or accounting/finance background
  • College degree in accounting or business
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, with concentration in accounting, or equivalent experience is an asset.
  • Professional designation or active enrollment in a Professional program an asset
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Knowledgeable of IDS/AS400, IBM Cognos an asset
  • Ability to summarize data and drafting business reports.
  • Ability to optimize processes, promote automation and manage change.

Responsibilities

ROLE:

The primary purpose of the role is supporting the Director, Compliance Canada to develop and operate compliance programs, taking charge of certain initiatives and projects, provide guidance to process owners and coordinate activities of resources.
Carry out and oversee detailed info gathering, process mapping, analysis, and other activities with the objective of identifying and assessing compliance risk to ensure that all finance processes and controls are compliant with corporate guidelines (FAMM) and any other regulatory body, where required. Also, it will identify and communicate opportunities for improvement that could help process efficiency.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Take part in Company-wide initiatives where compliance related skillset can be utilized.
  • Respond to requests/inquiries from business partners as well as requests for due diligence related to business and regulatory compliance control framework.
  • Assist Director, Compliance Canada with the implementation/review of new controls across the country.
  • Evaluate internal operational and procedural compliance.
  • Communicate compliance policies and guidelines to regional management and designated departments.
  • Implement, execute, and manage the organization’s compliance and risk assessment programs for each one of the regions and provide recommendations for necessary changes.
  • Coordinate efforts with regional process owners to execute SOX testing based on the annual compliance plan.
  • Prepare all working papers and supporting documentation evidence according to audit quality standards in a consistent manner.
  • Partner with regional management to determine appropriate remediation steps and ensure corrective actions are being implemented accordingly.
  • Assist in the design of the review scope for regions that have been considered in the annual review calendar prepared by the Sysco Advisory & Audit Services group (SAAS), this will include determining controls and approach for each project assigned.
  • Coordinate external requests for customer audits.
  • Communicate and follow-up on audit exceptions to Pricing management.
  • Assist regions with Segregation of Duties (SOD) and system access reviews on a quarterly basis.
  • Provide guidance, technical expertise, and support to regional process owners to ensure consistency in different tasks.
  • Provide support with development and execution of internal training and communications.
  • Complete special projects as assigned.
  • Complies with Sysco’s Food Safety Policy and procedures to ensure food safety, quality and legality requirements are met.
  • Is willing to work safely with minimal environmental impact and understands the importance of reporting all hazards, incidents, and environmental spills immediately to their Supervisor.
  • Understands that they play an integral role in their own safety and that of their colleagues and is willing to speak out when hazards are present.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
