JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Serve as a District-Level resource for Customs Compliance
  • Proactively communicate and closely coordinate with Compliance Supervisor, DCM, branch management, and RCM
  • Keeps informed of current and proposed laws, regulations, directives, rules, and policies applicable to the relevant District governing Trade Compliance at Expeditors and regarding the industry in general.
  • Maintain knowledge about Expeditors’ operating systems, including (but not limited to) GCI, CFIT, EDMS, and ETMS and how those systems support the Company’s ongoing Compliance goals and objectives.
  • Communicate regularly with Compliance Supervisor, DCM and branch management to ensure consistent and accurate messaging, any material changes, and implementation of Trade Compliance goals and objective

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Degree or equivalent required
  • Passed background check
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Good computer skills (Word, Excel, and familiarity with PowerPoint)
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Must not require future sponsorship for employment Visa
  • Must have the ability to work overtime in support of department needs
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize throughout the workday while remaining focused and organized
  • Demonstrated ability to be pro-active in thought and action
  • Strong organization skills
  • Analytical with strong attention to detail
  • Effective interpersonal skills, including proven ability to listen, comprehend, effectively communicate clearly and concisely to obtain positive results

Desired Qualifications :

  • A passion for Compliance and doing the right thing.
  • A minimum of two (2) years at the Company (not required)
  • Demonstrated understanding of applicable Trade Compliance laws and regulations
  • Strong familiarity with, and continued pursuit of proficiency in Expeditors’ operating systems, including GCI, CFIT, EDMS, ETMS, and, where applicable, third-party systems used to conduct Expeditors’ transactions.
  • DG Certification (U.S. Imports)
  • U.S. Customs Broker License (Preferred)
  • IATA/FIATA Cargo Certification (Preferred)
  • College/University or equivalent business qualifications (Preferred)
Responsibilities

Compliance

  • Assist in the enforcement of Expeditors’ Brokerage Operational Process Standards, policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with 19 CFR relating to import shipments
  • Ensure compliance with Denied Party Screening, sanctions and embargoes

    Internal Reviews and Monitoring

  • Conduct daily reviews via IDMA/EDMA (Import/Export Daily Monitoring Applications) in accordance with Expeditors’ review guidelines

  • Derive training topics from IDMA/EDMA results and assist with development of classes for brokerage/export departments
  • Monitor DG Checklist, IDMA/EDMA, ADD CVD Reimbursement/361, compliance reports – Daily, Weekly, monthly etc.

Information

  • Read daily publications of Broker Power’s International Trade Today, Administrative Messages, and local customs publications (e.g. Pipelines, Public Bulletins, etc.). Visit customs and PGA websites on a regular basis. Ensure familiarity with Customs’ Informed Compliance Publications.
  • Attend monthly Compliance Conference Calls hosted by CHQ
  • Attend monthly DG calls hosted by CHQ.
  • Attend monthly TSA/CCSF calls hosted by CHQ.

    Training

  • Complete all mandatory training requirements each year.

  • Maintain Dangerous Goods certifications.
  • Assist operation personnel with compliance-related questions and issues.

    Sales/Marketing

  • Other tasks and duties as deemed appropriate by management.
