SALARY: $55K to $65K

POSITION SUMMARY:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Compliance Assistant to join our team in Poughkeepsie. This role supports the compliance department in ensuring our wine and spirits distribution operations adhere to federal, state, and local regulations, including those from the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB), New York State Liquor Authority (NYSLA), and other relevant bodies.

  • Must be able to functionally multitask on various projects at one time
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Google Docs.
  • Ability to work independently and identify and solve problems.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Highly Detail Oriented
  • Basic understanding of office equipment.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 21 years of age or older
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Business Analytics, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related analytical discipline.
  • Knowledge of Alcoholic Beverage Compliance highly preferred.
  • Prior compliance, legal, or regulatory experience preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Responsibilities
  • Develops and maintains relationships through effective and timely communication.
  • Takes initiative and action to respond, resolve and follow up inquiries/issues in a timely manner.
  • Gather and enter data into multiple software formats.
  • Stays up to date with legal and regulatory changes affecting compliance programs.
  • Resolves minor processing problems; seeks assistance from supervisor or other appropriate staff for issues beyond immediate expertise.
  • Gathers necessary information and documents to perform brand registrations, monthly audits, and price posting.
  • Consistent adherence to State, Federal and Company deadlines.
  • Ability to interpret and advise different levels of staff in relation to Federal Basic Permits (TTB), OutofState Wholesale licenses, Brand registration, Federal Label Approvals (COLAs, ATF), Sales Representative Permits, Bonds, UPC codes, SLA requirements
  • Ability to read complex regulations and interpret legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Occasional Travel to NYC Office for Meetings and Trainings
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
