Description
Intro Adsquare's mission is centered on: Passion: Solving complex challenges with exceptional people, technology, and data. Niche: Specializing in Location Intelligence for Programmatic Advertisers. Our work is guided by our core values, and we look for candidates who embody them: Drive: Turning ambition into action that brings valuable outcomes. Resilience: Adapting, persevering, and growing stronger through challenges. No BS: Upholding honesty, transparency, and clear communication. Humble: Valuing modesty and letting results speak for themselves. Moral Compass: Acting with fairness, integrity, and respect. About the team Your Mission We are looking for a full-time Legal Counsel who is a true "thinker and doer" — someone who can navigate complex legal strategies and then roll up their sleeves to execute them. You will work closely with the Head of Legal & Compliance to manage and scale Adsquare's Data & AI Compliance Programme. This is a hands-on role where you will build, maintain, and audit the infrastructure that ensures our global products stay compliant with GDPR, the EU AI Act, US privacy laws, and beyond — acting as a key pillar of our Legal & Compliance team and bridging the gap between multiple data regulations and our daily business operations. Your Profile Educational Background: You have passed the first state law examination (or equivalent from a Civil Law System) and possess at least 3 years of continuous, solid and specific experience in data protection, preferably within the technology or advertising sectors. Certifications: You hold a recognized GDPR certification (e.g., CIPP/E). This is a mandatory requirement. "Hands-on" Expertise: You have a proven track record of "doing" — you have personally managed ROPAs, drafted DPIAs, and conducted audits. You thrive when taking ownership of projects while remaining a collaborative team player. Tech-Savvy: You are comfortable working with tools like OneTrust, Jira, and G-Suite. You have a genuine interest in how privacy laws apply to emerging technologies in the AdTech space. Work Style: You are a proactive problem-solver who values clarity and efficiency. You have a "legal design" mindset — aiming to make legal compliance intuitive for everyone. Language Proficiency: Excellent English language skills (written and verbal) are required. What you will do Your responsibilities within the Data Protection Programme include: Audits & Security Governance: Plan and execute regular audits of our data suppliers and partners to assess collection practices and consent management. Internal Compliance Operations: Support our teams in ensuring our products and operations include privacy and compliance by design, are aligned with our internal policies, and keep our records, ROPA, DPIAs, etc. up to date. Training: Develop and deliver privacy training to ensure a high level of "Internal Information on Compliance" across all teams. Data Subject Requests (DSRs): Manage the end-to-end process for DSRs, ensuring timely and compliant responses. Data Breaches: Support the management of the data breach response framework, from documentation to notification. Legal Tech & Regulatory Monitoring: Monitor the global regulatory landscape and track regulatory changes in Europe, the US, and other key markets to ensure our documentation remains ahead of the curve. Contractual Support: Provide expert drafting and negotiation for Data Processing Agreements (DPAs) and specific privacy clauses, and support the contractual team on commercial agreements. Nice to Have Familiarity with AI governance frameworks. German language skills. Other EU languages: French, Italian, or Spanish.
