SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISE

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in business, administration, political science or related field and five years of experience working on local, state and/or federally funded projects, with background in compliance and/or risk management is required.
  • Demonstrated success implementing compliance-focused system and providing compliance-related training required.
  • A Master’s degree is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong understanding of federal, state and local laws related to grant management.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders.
  • Flexibility, initiative, and ability to work in a team required.
  • Ability to deal sensitively and effectively with individuals of diverse economic and cultural backgrounds.
Responsibilities

In the capacity as Compliance Manager, this position will:

  • Maintain the electronic contract management system; review all contracts for risk and legal sufficiency, ensuring that entities meet regulatory and contractual requirements; and develop a strong understanding of the requirements set forth in agency funding contracts.
  • Maintain a central compliance tracker across departments to monitor major agency-wide deadlines and documentation needs.
  • Assist departments in continuing to implement systems to ensure compliance with the provisions of the funding contracts and grants that fund their operations.
  • Be available, and, as appropriate, attend monitoring and audit visits from agency funders.
  • Monitor changes in laws, regulations and guidance.
  • Train and educate agency staff on applicable compliance-related subjects, including new compliance requirements.
  • In conjunction with General Counsel, perform regular audits of agency procedures and processes to ensure compliance; investigate compliance violations; and, recommend corrective action.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned from time to time.
