This is a management level position within the organization, reporting to the SVP of Quality. This position has 2 employees reporting directly to them.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • BA in Microbiology, Biology, or equivalent work experience
  • Experience in low moisture food processing preferred
  • Experience in FSVP and USDA Organic required.
  • Experience direct managing personnel preferred.

Responsibilities
  • Establishes supplier quality requirements, maintains and improves supplier approval process to maintain compliance with regulations and initiates process improvement
  • Monitors vendor quality performance and establishes criteria and rating system for critical vendors.
  • Manages Raw Material and Finished Good Release programs
  • Initiates and implements quality improvement activities as appropriate to raise the performance of the company’s product lines.
  • Educates and trains employees as to their impact in the Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Performs internal audits of the QMS, reports NCs, and aids departments in creating applicable corrective actions
  • Manages quality control personnel on a day-to-day basis.
  • Designs, implements and documents procedures for process control, process improvement, related to incoming product testing and inspection.
  • Establishes and implements metrics (capability, control charts, measurement quality) for monitoring system effectiveness and to enable managers to make sound product quality decisions.
  • Drives root-cause analysis and other problem-solving activities to identify effective corrective actions and process improvements.
  • Establishes collection and analysis systems of data to predict trends in order to improve product quality.
  • Creates and reviews vendor facing ingredient specifications
  • Reports to management on quality issues, trends and losses.
  • Participates in internal and external quality audits (occasional international travel required).
  • Interfaces with supplier and customer service representatives concerning problems with products and ensures that effective corrective action is implemented.
  • All other reasonable duties, as assigned.
