COMPLIANCE MANAGER

Reports to: Senior Compliance Manager / Chief Compliance Officer

Key Responsibilities

  • Stay current with California cannabis regulations and applicable local ordinances.
  • Act as a regulatory subject matter expert, providing guidance, training, and support to HQ departments, staff and field teams.
  • Respond to compliance inquiries and deliver real-time solutions to business partners.
  • Oversee regulatory filings, audit calendars, and track compliance deadlines.
  • Conduct onsite compliance audits and inspections; draft reports and follow up on deficiencies.
  • Ensure inventory records and track-and-trace systems (Metrc) remain accurate and compliant.
  • Develop and refine SOPs, compliance protocols, and internal processes in collaboration with cross-functional departments.
  • Provide mentorship and direction to Compliance Administrator.
  • Support Senior Compliance Manager and Chief Compliance Officer in reporting department goals, activities, and allocating team resources.
  • Act as a point of contact for regulators, inspectors, and external auditors

Qualifications

  • 2+ years compliance experience in California cannabis.
  • 3+ years operations or operational support experience (multi-site preferred).
  • Direct experience with California cannabis regulation and compliance auditing.
  • Strong ability to draft and refine SOPs.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Experience with Metrc and cannabis-related point of sale systems.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite + Google Applications.
  • Supervisory or team leadership experience.
  • Notary Public certification (or willingness to obtain — company will sponsor).
  • CAL OSHA certification preferred.

Compensation

  • $78,000 – $90,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications

Working Conditions

  • In-office position – HQ located in Downtown Long Beach
  • Operates in a professional office environment with standard equipment (computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets)
  • Occasional visits to distribution + retail environments

Position Type / Hours

  • Full-time position; occasional evening and weekend work may be required

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly required to talk, hear, stand, walk, use hands, and reach with arms
  • Occasionally lift office products/supplies, cannabis and cannabis accessories up to 20 lbs.

Travel Requirements

  • 25–40% travel to business locations as needed

Background Check Requirement

  • Employment in this role may be contingent upon successfully meeting the eligibility requirements and passing multiple locality-required Live Scan fingerprinting, background checks, and/or other screenings as applicable to cannabis industry regulations.
