WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

· Proven line management experience (3+ years) in proofreading, quality control, or compliance sectors.
· Strong leadership skills with experience managing and developing a team to meet high-quality standards.
· Organised, methodical, and analytical approach to work with a keen eye for detail and strong attention to accuracy.
· Proficient in data analysis and report preparation to support informed decision-making.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills and good command of the English language.
· Proactive, positive, and adaptable, able to manage varying demands of a fast-paced, deadline-driven SME.
· A natural problem solver with a strong sense of urgency, who remains calm and works quickly yet accurately under pressure.
· Excellent IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
· Knowledge of ISO standards and quality-controlled environments is preferred.

EDUCATION:

· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification required.
· GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics at grade C/4 or above.
· Relevant professional qualifications or training in quality assurance, compliance, or management is a plus.

ABOUT THE ROLE

At Connect Design, we specialise in creating accessible educational and business resources, offering high-quality braille, large print, audio, and easy-read solutions. With over 35 years of expertise, we empower everyone to access vital information.
Due to continued expansion, we are seeking an experienced and proactive Compliance Manager to oversee our Proof and Quality Control departments. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will ensure the highest standards of accuracy, quality, and compliance across all outputs. This leadership role will involve managing teams, driving continuous improvement, implementing processes, and maintaining strict adherence to internal and external quality standards.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

· Lead, motivate, and manage the Proof and Quality Control team to deliver high accuracy and quality standards in all products before dispatch.
· Oversee and continuously improve proofreading and quality control processes, ensuring compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
· Lead by example and take ownership of final product accuracy, ensuring all items meet or exceed quality expectations.
· Develop and deliver training programs for proofreaders and quality control staff to maintain and elevate skill levels.
· Collaborate closely with Internal stakeholders to share best practices and drive quality improvements.
· Monitor KPIs, prepare and present verbal and written reports on team performance, compliance status, and quality metrics.
· Lead initiatives to embed a culture of continuous improvement, compliance, and accountability within the teams and work with the senior management team to identify opportunities for efficiency and improvement
· Address any escalated issues relating to proofing or quality control promptly and effectively.
· Liaise with the studio planning team for allocation of work and manage resource planning for your team to efficiently meet business demands.
· Support the Senior Management team in strategic planning and contribute to overall operational objectives.
· Identify operational risks or issues and escalate them appropriately to the Operations Manager.
· Carry out any additional tasks as required by senior management in line with the business needs.
· Ensure adherence to health and safety standards and workplace legislation within the departments.
