Responsibilities

THE ROLE:

As Compliance Manager at Holland & Barrett’s Burton Manufacturing site, you’ll ensure our products meet the highest food safety, quality, and regulatory standards. You will develop and enhance our Quality Management System (QMS), oversee HACCP, allergen control, pest management, and food fraud prevention programs. Leading a team of four and reporting to the Quality and Product Safety Manager, you’ll coordinate internal and external audits, drive continuous improvement, and maintain strong supplier oversight. Your efforts will safeguard brand integrity, foster a culture of excellence, and support one of the UK’s leading health and wellness brands.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead QMS, HACCP, internal audits and technical training to exceed industry benchmarks and customer requirements.
  • Ensure audit readiness and compliance for BRC, GMP, HACCP, Kosher and SMETA/SEDEX; manage non-conformance closure and deputise for the Quality and Product Safety Manager as needed.
  • Oversee HACCP programs and implement risk assessments and mitigation strategies to safeguard food safety.
  • Manage allergen and species risk programmes to guarantee accurate labelling, prevent cross-contamination, and verify species authenticity.
  • Direct on-site VACCP and TACCP programmes to prevent food fraud and intentional contamination; conduct vulnerability and threat assessments and implement controls.
  • Enhance pest control and site hygiene programmes, enforcing zero-tolerance policies and leading improvements in sanitation and foreign body management.
  • Maintain supplier and raw material compliance, traceability and performance monitoring through documentation reviews and audit outcomes.
  • Analyse Quality KPIs, implement corrective actions, and drive continuous improvement across production processes.
