Description

We are looking for a Compliance Manager who is meticulous and knowledgeable in the Real Estate/Property Management world.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING (QUALIFICATIONS)

  • A minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in multifamily property management, with at least 5 years in a role heavily focused on compliance, legal, or risk management.
  • Expert-level, demonstrated knowledge of California landlord-tenant law, Fair Housing regulations (FEHA & FHA), and other regulations pertinent to market-rate residential properties.
  • Proven success in developing, implementing, and enforcing compliance programs across a multi-site portfolio.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill complex legal information for all organizational levels.
  • Must be able to work independently, manage multiple high-priority projects, and meet firm deadlines.
  • Ability to travel within California as needed.
Responsibilities
  • Regulatory Monitoring & Implementation: Proactively monitor, interpret, and analyze federal, state, and local laws (Fair Housing, landlord-tenant, data privacy, habitability, etc.). You will translate new legislation into actionable operational policies and procedures.
  • Policy Governance: Develop, implement, and continuously refine a robust, company-wide compliance framework. You will be the author and owner of our compliance-related policies and best practices.
  • Compliance Audits & Document Control: Design and execute a comprehensive internal audit program to assess compliance at the property level. You will oversee the review and approval of lease agreements, addenda, and resident communications to ensure legal fortitude.
  • Risk Mitigation: Identify potential compliance vulnerabilities across the portfolio and partner with operational leaders to develop and implement effective risk mitigation strategies.
  • Training & Development: Design and deliver engaging and impactful training programs for on-site teams, Regional Directors, and corporate staff. Your goal is to cultivate a pervasive culture of compliance and ethical conduct.
  • Issue Resolution & Guidance: Serve as the primary resource for complex compliance-related inquiries. Provide expert guidance and clear solutions to property and regional leadership, acting as a key partner to our legal counsel and insurance providers.
  • Vendor & Data Management: Establish and monitor vendor compliance requirements (e.g., insurance, licensing). Oversee data management practices to ensure the secure and compliant handling of all resident and company information.
