Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

As the Compliance Officer – Lift and Water your manager will be our Compliance Manager. You will work 37 hours a week on a permanent basis, working flexibly in the Vico Homes operating area with our Head Office in Castleford.
As the Compliance Officer – Lift and Water you will be responsible for making sure our organisation meets all legal requirements and safety standards for lifts and water systems. You’ll manage inspection schedules, oversee contractors, monitor performance and data, and give internal assurance that we’re staying compliant.

It is an exciting time to be joining us and here are some of the initiatives that you will be involved in:

  • You’ll help implement and embed our recently developed lift and water safety management plans, ensuring robust processes are in place across our portfolio. Your work will support a consistent, risk-based approach to lift and water safety that aligns with current legislation and best practice.
  • You’ll be involved in supporting the delivery of our ambitious Homes & Growth Strategy, ensuring that compliance and safety considerations are fully integrated into our plans for new developments, acquisitions, and investment in our existing stock.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Ensure compliance with L8, COSHH, LOLER, PUWER, HSAW 1974 and all other associated legislation & guidance
  • Manage cyclical LRA/LOLER/PUWER programmes and associated remedials
  • Provide technical advice to colleagues
  • Ongoing contract management, including regular contactor meetings; audits and monitoring, challenging poor performance, when necessary
  • Translate strategy, policy and procedures relating to legionella and lifts into objectives, KPI’s, management information, and assist in production of report to boards and committees
  • Monitor compliance processes and identify any non-compliant areas or process improvement opportunities
  • Manage and maintain up to date information relating to legionella and lift compliance, including ensuring the operation and development of appropriate data management systems (IBS, TCW, Documotive)
  • Work with regulatory and enforcing bodies as required
  • Support the compliance team in providing assurance to the Board and internal stakeholders that Vico Homes is fully compliant with their statutory obligations and provide robust evidence base to support the position
  • Contribute towards the development of systems and processes to ensure effective safety and compliance management within the relevant areas of the organisation
  • Undertake inspections, audits, assessments and investigations when required
  • Engage with residents by responding to enquiries, complaints and requests in a timely manner
  • Participate in the evaluation of tenders and contractor selection as required
  • Keep up to date regarding developments and best practice in lifts and water safety
