We’re looking for our next Compliance Officer. Could it be you?
Reporting to the Compliance Manager, the Compliance Officer is responsible for monitoring Community Trust Company’s compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, guidelines and policies and procedures on Regulatory Compliance Management, Consumer Protection, Privacy and Anti-Money Laundering. This role performs the second line of defense function pursuant to OSFI Guideline E-13 (RCM) and entails the daily operation and administration of the RCM program. The incumbent serves as an internal subject matter expert for identifying applicable regulatory requirements, including but not limited to those by OSFI, Bank Act, TLCA, FCAC, CDIC, CASL, CRA, AODA, and PIPEDA, and is responsible for interpreting regulatory requirements, providing policy interpretations, and monitoring and management of issues.

Responsibilities
  • Primary responsibility of maintenance of Compliance Management System (i.e. Resolver) to ensure the control library is up to date and operating effectively.
  • Receiving and actioning regulatory updates on behalf of the compliance department and business units. (i.e Change management process handling)
  • Identify and document issues of non-compliance and monitor issue remediation status
  • Review and update policies and procedures as required
  • The ability to interpret the regulatory requirements and translate them into compliance activity tailored to CTC products and processes
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to gather, analyze, document and present large volumes of information in a succinct and organized manner
  • Ability to collaborate with all internal and external stakeholders (Management, auditors, regulators)
  • A good understanding of bank or trust and loan company regulatory requirements
  • The ability to interpret the regulatory requirements and translate them into compliance activity tailored to CTC products and processes
  • Ability to say updated on regulatory change and their implications
  • Understanding of compliance risk assessment methodology
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to assist in the development and implementation of compliance policies and procedures.
  • Ability to gather, analyze, document and present large volumes of information in a succinct and organized manner
  • Ability to collaborate with all internal and external stakeholders (Management, auditors, regulators)
  • Experience in compliance, audit, or internal control functions strongly preferred
  • Have working knowledge of the following products: Mortgages, GICs and Registered Plans

  • Have a Post-Secondary Education in Business or equivalent.
  • Have a CAMS, CIPP/C or CIPM designation.
  • Have a minimum of 5 years of experience in a federally regulated financial institution (preferably in a trust company or bank) with demonstrated knowledge and extensive experience in RCM, AML, privacy, consumer protection regulatory requirements, both in the governance and operational aspect.
  • Have experience working directly with federal and provincial regulators and auditors (OSFI, CDIC, FCAC, OBSI, OPC) and handling customer complaints.
