Department
As a Compliance Officer, you will be part of the Compliance department based in Rotterdam. Alongside your team of seasoned compliance professionals, you will support Robeco and its staff in managing Compliance & Integrity risks in order to ensure that we effectively navigate the complex regulatory landscape of a global asset manager, protect our clients and maintain a strong reputation in the industry. Compliance covers a wide range of topics, such as CDD/AML, Market abuse, Fraud, Sustainability regulations, Treating clients fairly and Privacy as well as rules relating to behavior of staff (e.g. private investments, gifts & entertainment and conflicts of interest). All being integrated in our international asset management business.
Compliance provides oversight and support with respect to Robeco’s global activities, including our head office in Rotterdam and various international offices within the EU, Switzerland, UK, Dubai, Asia Pacific and USA. The team in Rotterdam consists of 13 colleagues, who collaborate closely with the local Compliance Officers in our offices abroad. Together we form the Global Compliance team of 29 highly motivated members.
Position & Requirements

What will you do:

  • Maintain and embed comprehensive compliance frameworks, particularly in the field of sustainability regulations, treating clients fairly and prevention of market abuse
  • Engage in a variety of compliance activities, including identifying regulatory obligations, conducting risk assessments, developing & implementing internal policies, building awareness and conducting compliance monitoring activities
  • Act as a subject matter expert with regard to the compliance themes entrusted to you, by providing specialist advice and support within Global Compliance and to business departments
  • Fulfil a generalist business partner role for one or more designated business departments, particularly within the Sustainable Investing Center of Expertise, Investments, Strategic Product & Business Development and Marketing, with whom you build strong relationships
  • Oversee, challenge and advise on compliance matters and risk taking
  • Coordinate and collaborate with other Global Compliance colleagues, both within international teams and through continuous alignment across office locations
  • Work closely with other control functions, such as Risk Management, Legal Affairs and Internal Audit

What we are looking for in a candidate:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (law, business administration, economics or related field)
  • 0-5 years of relevant working experience, either in compliance, at an asset manager or in the financial industry. This position is classified at level 6. The starting level will be determined based on the candidate’s experience and qualifications
  • Proficiency in English, both spoken and written
  • Eager to learn, curious by nature
  • A pro-active, connecting personality with the drive and ability to develop relationships
  • Ability to provide countervailing power and to drive change
  • A business-driven mindset, embracing changes while maintaining high ethical standards
  • Familiarity with modern technology including AI (MS Copilot)
  • Available for 32 - 40 hours per week
