Your Mission: The Compliance Program Director is responsible for the strategic oversight and daily management of Sun Health’s organization-wide compliance program. This role plays a critical part in the ongoing evaluation, development, and enhancement of compliance efforts to ensure alignment with regulatory requirements and organizational standards. A core function of the position includes the collection, analysis, and reporting of compliance data to identify trends, assess risks, and support informed recommendations for improving program performance and operational efficiency. The Compliance Program Director works collaboratively with cross-functional teams to advise on a wide range of regulatory and compliance matters, build strong partnerships with business units, and foster a culture where compliance is integrated into daily operations and embraced as a shared responsibility by all team members.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, Business or related field required. Master’s degree preferred.
  • 3+ years’ healthcare compliance experience required, preferably in a senior living environment.
  • 3+ years’ experience managing programs, people, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Min of 3 years’ of experience managing health care or social service programs may be substituted for health care compliance experience.
  • Excellent organizational skills including time and project management skills.
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare laws, regulations, and compliance standards (e.g., HIPAA, CMS, OIG guidance).
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret regulations, develop policies, and communicate complex information clearly and effectively.
  • Strong presentation development and delivery skills in in-person and virtual settings.
  • Proficient to Expert in Microsoft Office programs, especially SharePoint, Excel and Power BI.
  • Ability to read, analyze, interpret and apply performance data, regulatory requirements, contract requirements, internal policies and controls and accrediting body guidelines and technical procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Provide day-to-day management of the Compliance Work Plan. Participate in delivery of core Compliance Work Plan activities including, but not limited to policy development, regulatory compliance incident management and investigation, training, conflicts management, and compliance risk management.
  • Work with the VP of ERM & Corporate Compliance/Compliance Officer to conduct ongoing monitoring and annual privacy program assessment (HIPAA, state privacy laws).
  • Work collaboratively across the organization to build a culture of ethical action and compliance and drive engagement that reinforces the theme that “compliance is everyone’s responsibility.”
  • Conduct research on state and federal regulatory matters relevant to Sun Health’s business and contracts; provide guidance to operational teams, as needed.
  • Draft, review and monitor policies for compliance with laws; assist business with interpretation and application of policy, as needed.
  • Grow and manage compliance reporting program including, but not limited to, data collection, and program performance reporting.
  • Consistently meet defined performance standards to ensure prompt, effective and courteous delivery of compliance services.
  • Support review and investigation of compliance incidents including, but not limited to privacy incidents, policy violations, and potential conflicts of interest.
  • Serve as the Compliance Officer’s designee for various meetings and initiatives related to regulatory compliance, upon request.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Read, understand, and adhere to all corporate policies including policies related to HIPAA and its Privacy and Security Rules.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with insurance providers to stay informed about industry trends and emerging risks.
