BRF maintains its headquarters and a manufacturing facility in Macedon, New York; with a Culinary Innovation Center in Westmont, Illinois; and offices and manufacturing facilities in Williamson, New York; Pennsauken, New Jersey; and Corona, California. This role is in our Corona, CA location.  WHAT WE NEED The Compliance Specialist conducts thorough reviews of daily production/processing records and charts, and quality documentation to ensure full compliance with all regulatory (state and federal), company policies, standards, and procedures, while identifying and addressing any gaps. Supports all compliance team positions and initiatives. This role will work onsite at the manufacturing site Monday through Friday, and they will provide support on a rotating weekend basis. The Compliance Specialist ensures that all aseptic (High and low-acid), acidified, and low-aW food manufacturing operations comply with federal and state regulatory requirements under the California Cannery Inspection Program (CDPH), FDA (21 CFR 113 & 114), and USDA where applicable. This role serves as a key liaison with regulatory agencies, manages documentation review and submissions (including S-Letters), process and product filings, supports audits and inspections, and oversees product release processes to ensure full compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and regulatory expectations.    WHAT YOU WILL DO Production & Quality Record Review & Approval: * Approves all daily production records for adherence to internal programs and standards. * Reviews and approves finished product for compliance and releases goods via SAP. * Reviews all production floor data system for each run prior to release. * Submits deviations to the Process Authority for review.  Raw Material and Packaging Quality Control:  * Approves compliant Certificates of Analysis (COAs) for raw materials.  * Communicates deviations/non-conformances with suppliers and procurement. * Maintains disposition records and catalogs supporting documentation. * Ensure documentation for new materials is uploaded and assigned correctly. * Reviews all material documents for compliance with required standards. * Reviews new labeling (sleeves, trays, cartons, etc.) and communicates transition timing to production.  * Writes and communicates SCAR’s to suppliers in a timely manner.  Corrective & Preventive Actions (CAPA):  * Records issues and approves all corrective actions. * Conducts root cause analysis for non-conformances. * Tracks corrective action implementation and effectiveness. * Follows up with applicable cross-functional employees. * Investigates and resolves non-conformances, ensuring all internal program standards are met. Must follow established escalation procedures for all deviations, including timely notification of relevant stakeholders. Food Safety:  * Assists with compliance audits, corrective action follow-ups, customer audits, and continuous improvement activities. * Manages Quality Holds in SAP and assures hold reconciliation is completed according to the procedure. Maintains plant hold logs.  * Participate in and takes notes at Food Safety Team Meetings. * Creates agendas and assigns action items for Food Safety Team Meetings. * Ensures BRF food safety plans comply with regulatory requirements. * Maintains and reviews the Food Safety Plan annually. Supplier Quality Management:  * Maintains the Baldwin Richardson Foods TraceGains system. * Acts as a point of contact with suppliers to resolve quality issues, update documentation, and verify information. Kosher Compliance:  * Accompanies the Rabbi on Kosher audits, and Acts as the point person for customer Kosher requests. * Ensures all raw ingredient Kosher Certs are uploaded and maintained in Digital Kosher. * Ensures finished product formulas are submitted for Kosher certs. Organic Certification:  * Provides support during Organic certification audits.  * Ensure all raw ingredient certifications are uploaded and maintained in TraceGains. Documentation Control:  * Maintains document registries and trains document controllers. * Reviews and assigns document control numbers to all forms and procedures (SOPs). * Ensures all documents are reviewed and updated yearly. * Must be cross trained in the responsibilities of other Compliance Specialists and provide back-up coverage as needed. * Responsible for providing documentation process training to other Compliance Specialists on their duties and responsibilities. * Must communicate deviations, corrective actions, follow-ups, regulatory responses, and other notifications to relevant stakeholders in a timely manner.   WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL   To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. * Education: Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Safety, Health and Safety or related * Experience: Minimum two (2) years’ experience in food manufacturing. * Training in HACCP, SQF, BPCS, PCQI or ISO 9001 required; certifications preferred * Experience directly supporting audits, inspections, and assessments and being point of contact for external audits. * Familiarity with food labeling regulations. * Demonstrates a strong understanding of and commitment to company culture and values. * Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, SAP, and TraceGains. * Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. * Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations. * Reasoning Ability: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
