Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and ensure compliance with CBSA regulations, customs laws, and other government agency requirements
  • Perform audits and reviews of customs entries, classifications, valuation, and origin declarations
  • Identify and correct discrepancies to mitigate compliance risks
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory changes and communicate updates to internal teams and clients
  • Assist with the resolution of customs delays, requests for information, and enforcement actions
  • Provide support and guidance to internal teams and clients regarding HS classification, permits, valuation, and documentation requirements
  • Liaise with CBSA, CFIA, and other regulatory bodies as needed
  • Maintain and update internal compliance documentation, SOPs, and training materials

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in customs compliance or a similar role within the brokerage or logistics industry
  • CCS designation (Certified Customs Specialist) preferred or in progress
  • Strong knowledge of CBSA regulations, D-Memos, and relevant trade agreements (CUSMA, CPTPP, etc.)
  • Experience with HS classification, valuation methods, and origin determination
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities
  • Proficiency with customs software and Microsoft Office Suite
