EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum one (1) to three (3) years’ experience as an Affordable Housing Compliance Specialist or Compliance Auditor for Affordable Housing consisting of a diverse portfolio.
  • LIHTC, Project Based Section 8, Section 811 and other HUD programs, RD, HOME, and RAD experience required. Layered compliance program experience preferred.
  • Knowledge determining household income eligibility in relation to program compliance regulations.
  • Knowledge using affordable housing compliance software programs for processing state and federal compliance applications preferred or willingness to quickly learn.
  • Knowledge using Yardi Voyager affordable housing modules preferred or willingness to quickly learn Yardi.
  • Basic accounting skills with understanding of receivables and payables.
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office 365- Word, Excel, Outlook, OneNote, PowerPoint.
  • Proficient using Microsoft Teams or similar internal chat messaging system.
  • Proficient using Adobe Acrobat.
  • Accurate data entry and proofreading skills.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/TRAINING

  • Minimum High School/GED equivalent required.
  • College degree preferred.
  • Current certifications required, minimum HUD and LIHTC such as:
    Certified Occupancy Specialist (COS) or Assisted Housing Manager (AHM)
    Rural Development 515 (S.T.A.R.) or Rural Housing Specialist (RHS)
    Housing Credit Certified Professional (HCCP)
    Specialist in Housing Credit Management (SHCM)
    Tax Credit Specialist (TCS)
    Blended Occupancy Specialist (BOS)

    The salary for this position is $60,000-$65,000. The actual compensation may vary depending on a wide range of factors, including experience, skills, qualifications, certifications, location, etc. This range does not include additional forms of compensation such as bonuses.

Responsibilities
  • Timely review of new applicant files and recertification packages for regulatory eligibility.
  • Conduct regular on-site or electronic compliance inspections/reviews or upon request from management operations.
  • Provide support and guidance to on-site staff in all aspects of regulatory compliance.
  • Provide support and guidance to Property Management in all aspects of regulatory compliance.
  • Provide support to Compliance team members as needed.
  • Meet assigned deadlines in a timely manner.
  • Accurately complete assigned compliance tasks and submit timely.
  • Willingness to obtain industry professional certifications.
  • Host introduction training calls for on-site staff.
  • Work collaboratively and effectively with regulatory housing compliance representatives.
  • Assist management operations in preparing for agency file reviews and inspections.
  • Physical attendance at assigned work location during scheduled hours is essential.
  • Occasional overnight travel as assigned to attend regional meetings, trainings, site audit and/or other conferences. Travel may be up to 25%
  • Ensure sensitive data is secure and managed appropriately within the department and throughout the company.
  • Demonstrate high standards of conduct and ethics as well as appropriate judgement, independence, and discretion.
