COMPLIANCE & STANDARDS SPECIALIST - 2 OPENINGS

SUMMARY:

Proactively monitors, analyzes and reports on the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) and Midwest Reliability Organization (MRO) compliance along with providing support to the development of NERC and MRO reliability standards.

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Bachelor’s degree in engineering or an energy related field with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in federal energy regulation and/or compliance.
OR
· Associate’s degree with an energy related focus along with a minimum of 7 years’ experience in federal energy regulation and/or compliance.
· Specific experience with the electric utility industry is strongly preferred.

· Knowledge of core transmission, generation, and distribution processes associated within electric utilities including control systems, transformers, regulators, capacitors, SCADA/EMS systems, and telecommunications.

  • Knowledge of regulations, policies, standards, and procedures of organizations regulating and affecting energy resource portfolio decisions, including the Midcontinent Independent Transmission System Operator (MISO) and the FERC.
  • Demonstrates a solid understanding of compliance principles, including adherence to policies, regulations, and ethical standards relevant to the role .

· Knowledge and understanding of electrical safety procedures and practices.

  • Skills in developing, implementing, and managing a system to organize documentation and files on sharing platforms.
  • Skill in logical problem solving, with the ability to thoroughly research issues and analyze various types of information.

· Proficient in using Microsoft Office 365 applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
· Skills in Microsoft Teams and SharePoint required.

· Skills in technical writing to develop procedure documentation and/or responses to standards.

  • Ability to build and maintain effective work relationships, both internal and external, and establish credibility with business partners and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize time/workload to accomplish tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to coordinate assignments and handle multiple complex tasks concurrently.
  • Self-motivated and ability to work independently and as a part of a team.
  • Ability to reduce complex issues into clear and concise language, including analysis of complex policy and regulatory issues.

· Proven ability to establish credibility quickly with others.
