POSITION SUMMARY:

We are looking for a Compliance Test Engineer - SAR/RF for an Onsite role in Redmond, WA.
The SAR / RF Compliance Test Engineer will provide a key function for the compliance team via SAR and RF Regulatory compliance testing of information technology equipment (ITE). This person will prepare and conduct tests according to test plans, per the scheduled test programs and instructions from the SAR Lab Manager.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • A working knowledge of wireless communications and RF principles either from coursework or work history.
  • Experience working in a laboratory and small team environment.
  • Understanding of RF measurement techniques and use of various RF lab equipment (Spectrum Analyzers, Vector Network Analyzers, Power Meters, Signal Generators).
  • Ability to effectively work with a skilled team and collaborate with a team of compliance engineers.
  • Occasional infrequent in person activity may be required

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience working with Wireless technologies such as Cellular, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
  • Understanding of FCC and European (RED) regulatory requirements and certification processes for wireless ITE devices.
  • Knowledge and understanding of RF Exposure standards.
  • Experience using any of the following SAR and RF test solutions: DASY5/6/8, cSAR, CMW500, Keysight UXM, Qualcomm / Intel Wireless FTM tools.
  • A desire to strengthen and apply RF knowledge while working to help improve cutting edge wireless computing devices.
Responsibilities
  • Perform RF exposure tests including SAR (Specific Absorption Rate) and PD (Power Density for 5G mmWave) on wireless (5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth, etc.) ITE devices according to worldwide regulatory standards.
  • Perform other RF Regulatory testing on wireless ITE devices with unlicensed and licensed intentional transmitters such as RF power and power spectral density measurements, conducted spurious emissions, spectral emission mask, receiver blocking, etc.
  • Record data and work with Compliance Engineers to fulfill testing needs for wireless ITE devices.
  • Understand and keep current with fast changing SAR and RF regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Follow lab quality and regulatory standard procedures.
  • Follow lab equipment operation and maintenance guideline.
  • Work productively and seamlessly as a member of a skilled team of compliance professionals.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
