• Material Preparation:
• Cut, trim, and prepare composite materials (e.g., fiberglass, carbon fiber, Kevlar) according to job specifications.
• Mix resins, hardeners, and other chemicals to the correct ratios for different applications.
• Laminate and Layup:
• Lay down composite sheets or fabrics in molds, applying resin and using heat or vacuum bagging techniques to ensure a strong bond.
• Use hand tools, cutting tools, and mechanical equipment to manipulate materials into molds and shapes.
• Molding and Curing:
• Operate curing ovens, autoclaves, or other heat-treating equipment to cure composite parts according to specified time and temperature profiles.
• Monitor the curing process to ensure consistency and quality of the final product.
• Repair and Maintenance:
• Perform repairs to damaged composite components by cutting, sanding, and re-laying new material layers.
• Inspect and assess the condition of composite structures and recommend corrective actions when necessary.
