About the role: Silver Creek Materials is seeking a plant operator to operate and maintain screening and material processing equipment within our compost operations. This position plays a critical role in maintaining safe and efficient plant production while ensuring equipment is properly inspected and maintained. The ideal candidate will be dependable, coachable, willing to learn, and interested in owning some of the processes in the Compost department. What you'll do: Perform daily pre-shift inspections of plant equipment Conduct routine preventative maintenance including greasing bearings and moving parts Inspect plant equipment for: Worn bearings Rollers Screens Conveyor belts Skirting rubber Head and tail pulley Structural and safety issues Maintain proper belt alignment and plant performance Communicate equipment issues with Shop & Equipment manager Coordinate with loader operators and compost manager during plant production Remove debris and buildup around the plant equipment and conveyors Assist maintenance and operations teams, as needed Follow all company safety policies and OSHA safety requirements. Qualifications & Skills: Basic mechanical understanding and problem-solving skills Ability to identify equipment wear and mechanical issues Comfortable working in outdoor environments Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds and perform physical tasks, such as shoveling large sandstone/clay clods from underneath plant equipment Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers Previous experience with Komptech and colorizer preferred Must pass background check and pre-employment drug screening Ability to work long hours and occasional Saturdays.
