General Summary The compounding crew position is responsible for producing personal care and cosmetic products in accordance with good manufacturing practices (cGMP) following the specified formulary procedures and instructions while maintaining a sanitary and orderly work area. This person will fill out and control batch records and assist in performing quality control checks on the product. Other responsibilities are assembling pumps, pipes, valves, and equipment, unloading, putting away inventory, completing proper paperwork, and necessary cleaning for production/manufacturing. Some work will be expected to be conducted with team members as assigned. Advanced work of the compounder includes recommending equipment and procedures for continuous process improvement. Primary / Key Essential Functions and Responsibilities DMake all batches accurately, efficiently and consistently in accordance with batch card and specification sheets. Understand the variation of materials and their effect on the finished batch. Ability to successfully process all bases and understands the effect of additives on each type of base. Understand and follow quality standards to determine quality level requirements. Recognize problems/defects with product and follow through on solutions/corrections. Notify Batch Lead or department head immediately of any discrepancies (incorrect formula, base, amounts, etc.). Work as a team with Line Leads and Process Techs to solve production problems. Communicate effectively with the next shift. Accurately and legibly fill out batch sheets including amounts of raw materials and lot numbers as the batch is being made. Make necessary corrections and record changes. Accurately fill out the batch making section of the report daily. Follow the correct clean up procedure between each run or change over. Assist other Batch makers as needed. Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to Supervisor. Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals. Support and implement continuous process improvements. Support and adhere to Kira’s values and policies. Education and/or Experience and Qualifications Minimum Education: Minimum High School Graduation, some college preferred. Minimum Experience:3-5 years Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Wet and Dry weighing processes Wet chemical processing Batch mixing experience from 50 gallons to 1500 gallon size Safe Chemical Handling Material handling equipment operations including drum lifts, pallet jacks and forklifts a must. The candidate should be able to lift up to 100 lbs. Should be able to work in a multiple activity process. Able to perform work without supervision on a batch basis. Personal time management Rapid math skills for basic arithmetic, using percentages and fractions, and some algebra. Work independently or as a team as needed Flexible and can work in a fast paced environment Able to follow written and verbal direction related to process or procedures compliant with SOPs GMP/SOP Management / Supervisory Authority N/A Physical Requirements Vision: Must have ability to identify and distinguish colors. Smell: Must be able to identify odors and smells for safe chemical management. Must be able to use dollies, fork trucks, and manual pallet jacks Lift 50 lbs Must be able to spend up to 8 hours standing on a regular basis.
