Description Company: Trimitron Corp Location: Norfolk, VA (Contractor Site) Clearance: Secret Job Title: Computer Engineer I Employment Type: Full-Time Position Overview: Trimitron Corp is seeking a technically strong Computer Engineer I to support the Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) Pacific’s Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) Division. This role provides engineering expertise in computer system design, software development, and network technologies that directly support mission-critical PNT systems used across the U.S. Navy. The ideal candidate brings hands-on engineering experience, a solid academic foundation, and a commitment to advancing their technical certifications while contributing to high-impact Navy programs. Key Responsibilities: Support the design, development, and implementation of computer systems, software applications, and network components used in PNT-related programs. Apply engineering principles to troubleshoot, analyze, and improve system performance, reliability, and security. Assist in developing system specifications, architecture documentation, and engineering artifacts. Participate in integration, testing, and validation activities for PNT systems and supporting technologies. Contribute to modernization efforts, including system upgrades, refactoring, and technology transitions. Support software development tasks, including coding, debugging, testing, and documentation. Assist in evaluating system performance, identifying issues, and recommending technical solutions. Provide engineering support for computer networks, including configuration, optimization, and troubleshooting. Collaborate with PNT engineers, analysts, and program managers to ensure technical solutions align with mission requirements. Support PNT system development, operational assessments, and technical reviews. Ensure all engineering activities comply with Navy, NIWC, and DoD cybersecurity, configuration management, and technical standards. Contribute to the development of PNT-related tools, models, and system enhancements. Required Qualifications: Active Secret security clearance. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field with a concentration in computer science. One (1) to Three (3) years of professional experience in: Computer system design Software development Computer networks Strong understanding of engineering principles, system architecture, and software development practices. Ability to analyze technical data, troubleshoot issues, and support engineering decision-making. Notable experience supporting U.S. Navy programs or operations. Preferred Qualifications: Experience supporting U.S. Navy programs, NIWC, NAVWAR, NAVSEA, or other DoD technical organizations. Familiarity with PNT systems, navigation technologies, or maritime system integration. Experience with system testing, evaluation, or engineering documentation. Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams. Actively work toward obtaining one or more of the following certifications within 18 months of assuming duties (or an approved equivalent): Professional Software Engineering Master (PSEM) Certified Software Development Professional (CSDP) Microsoft role-based certifications MCAD, MCDBA Red Hat Certification Program (RHCP) CISCO CCNP or CCDP Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) VMware Certified Professional (VCP) Cloud platform certifications (AWS, Azure, etc.) Why Join Trimitron Corp.?
