Description
SAIC is seeking a motivated, creative, and ambitious UAS Computer Engineer to join the Software, Simulation, Systems Engineering and Integration Directorate (S3I) Joint Technology Center – Systems Integration Lab (JSIL) Tech Center in Huntsville, AL. The candidate will be part of a dynamic and multidisciplinary team developing advanced electrical and computer application solutions for the U.S. Army and Air Force Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS)/Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) Ground Control Stations.

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

  • Bachelors degree in an Engineering Discipline and five (5) years or more of related experience.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Experience developing systems using Linux and Windows computing environments.
  • Experience with operating system virtualization utilizing Type I and II hypervisors (vSphere, KVM, VMWare Workstation).
  • Experience with containerization (i.e. Docker and/or Podman).
  • Experience with Cisco Systems, configuration, network administration and firewalls.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or PowerShell.
  • Experience with C, C++, and C# development.
  • Strong understanding of general computing system architectures and virtual machines.
  • Experience performing remote network configuration.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Security+ SE and a Network+ SE is a plus.
  • Experience with datacenter architectures (cluster computing, fault tolerant, or high availability system) is a plus.
  • Experience writing technical documentation is a plus.
  • Experience creating automated systems is a plus.
  • Experience deploying and maintaining container orchestrators such as Kubernetes is a plus.

Responsibilities
  • Contribute to system hardware and software architecture decisions based on customer performance, schedule, and cost requirements.
  • Automate the creation and configuration of Virtual Machines and microservices.
  • Design electrical architecture and integrated systems for real-time, mission-critical systems including flight systems, sensors, and ground control stations.
  • Perform hardware and software design/review/build cycles for prototype construction and implement plans for prototype testing at customer location.
  • Configure virtual and physical switches and troubleshoot network issues on virtual/physical switches and firewalls.
  • Use scripting languages to develop automated network installation and configuration using Bash, PowerShell, Java, and Python.
  • Develop engineering technical material including but not limited to System Description Documents, System requirements, Data Flow Documents, and Network Diagrams.
