Career College seeks a General Education, Computer instructor for On-Ground
daily instruction. Laurel Business/Technical Institute offers Certificates, Diplomas, and
Associate’s degrees and specializes in allied health, business and applied technology
programs. The school is licensed by the state of PA, WV, approved by the Department
of Education, and accredited by ACCSC. This is an on campus position.
Looking for persons that have expertise in troubleshooting and repairing of day-to-day
problems with network, printers, and laptops. Maintaining Help Desk tickets for
computer repairs, network problems and software issues. Provide system and
application support to administration, faculty and staff. Assist in maintaining user
accounts, security access to buildings, making ID cards for student and staff. Assist in
the implementation and maintenance the security for student networks.
TEACHING SUMMARY:
Describe, troubleshoot, and resolve startup problems with Desktop Operating Systems.
Resolve problems with internet connections such as outdated software components,
incorrect TCP/IP, and loose cables. Have knowledge of Windows Servers and Linux
Servers. Work with firewalls, wireless access points, switches and routers. Have
knowledge of virtual office technology and basic cloud applications. Have knowledge of
cloud environments such as AWS, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365.
Ability to teach courses in Windows, Linux, PC Repair and Maintenance, IT
Support and Troubleshooting computer software. (Canvas LMS system)
Knowledge to teach Building Security, Building Access systems, Voice and Data
Installation and some experience with low voltage systems.
Prepare and submit weekly lesson plans that are driven by the course and
program objectives and that include a balance of teacher and student-centered
instructional strategies as well as assessment (formative and/or summative)
strategies.
Maintain current knowledge of the field of study via regular and active
participation in professional development activities. Maintain membership and
involvement in professional and community organizations.
Relate to students in a professional manner. Encourage students to seek
additional help as needed. Work willingly with students who experience
difficulty. Communicate student issues of concern to appropriate channels
while respecting FERPA guidelines.
Augment college created curriculum with relevant and meaningful instructional
supplements which further enhance the learning experience for students.
Use multiple sources of data to inform instructional decisions and efforts toward
effective preparation of students.
Communicate regularly with students to celebrate successes, address academic
and attendance concerns and to provide constructive and robust feedback
related to assignments and course objectives in a timely manner.
Conduct regular classroom observations; provide robust and practical
constructive feedback to peers.
Exemplify leadership by modeling professionalism, lifelong learning, and
commitment to serving students both inside and outside the classroom. Strive
toward continuous improvement and efforts to consistently demonstrate all
desired behaviors listed in the faculty competency matrix.
Complete tasks in the expected timeframe and with a commitment to quality.
Provide tutoring services via regular office hours that are designed to promote
student contact. Attend faculty, staff and in-service meetings. Attends
graduation and other campus-based events as assigned by the supervisor.
NOTE: Full-time faculty are expected to be present on their assigned campus a
minimum of 35 hours per week with specific schedules subject to change per
the business need and at the discretion of the supervisor.
Perform substitute teaching duties as assigned.
