ABOUT DELTA 1:

Delta 1 Communications Centre provides Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP), Fire Service Communications (FSC), as well as other emergency services and enforcement dispatch for more than 24 communities across the Yukon, Northwest Territories and Northern British Columbia. Our technology and services are tailored to serve the needs of Fire, Rescue, Enforcement and Industry personnel across the North.

SUMMARY:

We are seeking a Computer Programmer & Network Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in programming in the C family and Python, with experience developing and maintaining applications across PC, mobile, and Raspberry Pi platforms. Additionally, the candidate will manage and optimize network systems to ensure connectivity and performance. The successful candidate will work directly with the company founder on new projects and maintaining existing services. A willingness to work with and adapt legacy systems while eliminating service interruptions is a must. Over time, more responsibility will be delegated until the successful candidate is coordinating most of the IT matters within the company. A long-term growth position for the right fit. Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, test, and maintain software applications using the C family and Python for PC, mobile, and Raspberry Pi platforms.
  • Design and implement efficient, scalable code for cross-platform compatibility with the help of AI.
  • Troubleshoot and debug software issues to ensure optimal performance.
  • Configure, monitor, and maintain network infrastructure, including routers, switches, VPNs and firewalls.
  • Ensure network security by implementing protocols and monitoring for threats.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate software solutions with network systems.
  • Document code, processes, and network configurations for future reference.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies and propose improvements to existing systems.
  • Respond 24/7/365 to service interruption emergencies

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of experience in programming with the C family and Python.
  • Proven experience developing applications for PC, mobile, and Raspberry Pi platforms.
  • Strong understanding of network protocols, configurations, and security practices.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting software and network issues.
  • Familiarity with version control systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of cloud platforms and IoT integration.
  • Certifications in networking or programming.
  • Familiarity with development methodologies.
