POSITION DESCRIPTION:
- Provides operations and maintenance of hardware and software with minimal supervision in accordance with overall project objectives and requirements.
• Maintains and repairs PC workstations and laptop computers, and utilizes PC and DOS applications.
• Provides software maintenance, upgrades, and installation of new applications, debugging, and checkout.
• Supports integrated communications operations and maintenance tasks, to include: monitoring data communications network and resolving problems; monitoring hub activity, performing diagnostics.
• Refers to technical reference manuals to solve hardware and software problems.
• Updates documentation to record new equipment installed, new sites, and changes to computer configurations.
• Provides system maintenance and implementation of changes.
• Compares approved procedures to those processes that users followed.
• Explains user procedures for data entry, compilation, and transmission.
• Creates and delivers training for users and management.
• Identifies and implements enhancements to the systems.
• Cross-trained and qualified to operate at least one additional TACTS system.
• Documents maintenance actions in IEMS.
MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL
High school diploma or equivalent.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Two years’ experience in the installation and maintenance of computer systems and network servers; with experience in at least four of the following
- Network interfaces and associated equipment
- Communications (fiber-optic, multiplexer) equipment and TCP/IP
- Configuration of hubs, routers, bridges and firewalls
- Microsoft and/or UNIX administration
- Internet and e-mail setup
- MIS databases and software development, modification and installation
- Microsoft Office and Microsoft Exchange
- Ability to speak, read, and write English
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Possess a valid state Driver’s License.
